Farmers’ markets are a cornerstone of local communities across Montana and Idaho, offering fresh, seasonal produce and creating spaces for people to connect. They celebrate the region's agricultural heritage and are vital hubs for supporting local farmers and artisans. Notable markets in Missoula and Sandpoint stand out for their vibrant atmosphere, with no shortage of additional options throughout each state.

Idaho Markets
Nestled in the picturesque setting of North Idaho, the Sandpoint Farmers’ Market is a must-visit for those in the region. Open every Saturday morning and Wednesday afternoon from May through October, this market offers an array of fresh produce, honey, meats, and handcrafted goods. Many vendors feature USDA-certified organic options, giving shoppers access to sustainably grown and raised products. The market’s relaxed atmosphere, paired with live music and food trucks, makes it a favorite weekend destination for both locals and tourists.

In addition to Sandpoint, Kootenai County Farmer’s Markets include a Saturday market in Hayden and a Wednesday market in Coeur d’Alene. Coeur d’Alene is also home to the 5th Street Farmers’ Market, an independent market organized by the Downtown Association, and the Lake Village Farmers’ Market, hosted at the Lake Village Lodge. Whether you’re looking for fresh fruit, vegetables, or unique locally-made products like soap, pottery, or jewelry, Coeur d’Alene’s markets have something for everyone, served with lakeside charm.

Montana Markets
Nestled in the heart of the Flathead Valley, locals can find everything from fresh berries and wildflower honey to locally crafted furniture and hand-woven textiles at the Kalispell Farmer’s Market. The Kalispell market stands out for its focus on supporting small-scale family farms, and in addition to the regular market stalls, it also hosts education workshops on sustainable farming. Similarly, the Whitefish Farmer's Market and Bozeman Farmers’ Market are known for their commitment to local farms and sustainability, with many vendors offering environmentally conscious or zero waste packaging.

The Missoula Farmers’ Market, one of Montana’s oldest, has served the community since 1973. Located in the heart of downtown and managed by PureWest’s own Tami Hubbard, it offers a wide variety of fresh, locally grown produce, artisanal breads, cheeses, meats, and handmade crafts. Live music, cooking demonstrations, and family-friendly activities create an inviting atmosphere for all. The fun doesn’t stop there with destination markets throughout the state including Columbia Falls, Bigfork, Polson, Big Sky, and Hamilton—to name a few.

The Cultural Heart of Local Food
Farmers' markets are more than just a place to buy food—they express the region's culture, heritage, and values, offer an opportunity to connect with the people who grow and create the food, and build relationships between consumers and the land. These markets support small businesses, provide a platform for local artisans, and create an avenue for people to learn about sustainability and healthy eating. Whether you’re a resident or a visitor, these markets are the perfect way to experience the true spirit of the Rocky Mountain West.
